John Nicholson Chastain was probably son of Raney (Rainy) Chastain and Mary Nicholson, daughter of John Nicholson (1762-3 to 1858). Raney shown in 1870 Walker co. Ga. # 539 (b.1793). On the way to Arkansas, people (inc. my Pinson/Nicholsons) often moved first to NW. Ga. and NE Alabama. Try querying for Raney and Mary Nicholson Chastain, Ga. for those who have their children.
