Nicholsons and Chastains connected thru many marriages in Georgia and Carolinas. Alfred Nicholson's father John b. 1762 Bute Co. N.C. (where he entered military 1780) died Union Co, Ga. c. 1858. Rev. War file in archives (e-mail me for details). Based on old bute Co tax censi his father probably named John, James (2-f&s), Nathaniel, Urban or Henry. Unless someone finds a deed or will in Warren (nee Bute) Co. N.C. you will probably never know.
