I found a list of Buckingham Co., Va marriages as performed by Rev. Rene Chastain, Jr. starting in 1786. It states that Rev Chastain was a direct decendant of Etienne (Stephen) Chastain and wife who were among the 1st shipload of French Emigrants to arrive and settle at "Mannachin" (Manakin) town. The Rev. Chastain, a Baptist Minister, begin 1786. One of the marriages he performed was on 13 April 1786, Stephen Chastain and Mary Ammonett (she of Cumberland Co.)
