Looking for info on Nancy Isabella Chastain. This was my great grandmother. She married Robert Ellis Thaxton. Her fathers name was James Chastain. In the 1860 Census shows her mother as Jane in the 1870 Census shows (Rebecca). They are in the Big Shanty district. Nancy's obit says born in Cherokee Co. but 1870 Census says S.C.
Our family story is that James left his wife and children and came to Butts Co. Georgia. He brought Nancy with him. She met Robert Ellis Thaxton and married him. James was a Constable in Butts Co. The only other child named in the Census is a son William. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance
