"The American Genealogist" Whole #255 Vol. 64 No.3 July, 1989 has an article about Pierre by Cameron Allen. I found more current info in it which supposedly had been checked by the author at the original source. The Pierre Chastain home page that I checked last week has a short sketch on Pierre which has the information I got from Allen's article. Their web site is; http://www.kopower.com. Hope this helps.
