No Ledfords in my near relatives. Chastine is another derivation of the original French name. Chastains and Chastines are not the same but very distantly related (200-300 years ago).

Chastine on the death certificate was probably spelled correctly unless someone knew a Chastine in the past and never heard of Chastains, or Chasteens (also distantly related) and just guessed.
