News Observer (Fannin Co. GA) newspaper:
“Michael William Chastain, 22, of Mineral Bluff [Georgia] died Nov. 1, 2002 in a Forsyth County hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was employed by Pike Electric Company as a right of way maintenance worker, and was a member of the Bethel Church.
Chastain enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a car racing fan, enjoying dirt track and NASCAR racing. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Chastain.
Survivors include his wife, Amanda Chastain of Mineral Bluff; mother, Phyllis Chastain of Mineral Bluff; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Charity Chastain of Cartersville, Ga.; sister, Dana Chastain of Blue Ridge; sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Joel Mann of Blue Ridge; grandparents, Thomas Grady Chastain and Wilma Chastain of Grassy Creek, and Ruth DeVaughn and the late Bill DeVaughn of Turtletown, Tenn.; niece, Shaylee Stone; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Mann, the Rev. Jim Holsonback and the Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating. Music was by Benny Pickelsimer.
Pallbearers were Matthew Davenport, Bohn Postell, Joseph Walden, Gerald Fortenberry, Ben Jory and Travis Jory.
Honorary pallbearers were Joel Mann, Clayton Chambers, Jim Patterson, Grady Patterson, John Acuff, Ryan Watkins and James Foster. Interment followed in the Chastain Cemetery in Grassy Creek.
Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.”
