The Mystery of Margaret Chastain

Margaret Chastain, married to Francis Postell, is probably one of the most elusive ancestors in any family tree. Has ANYONE been able to actually track down any real info about her?

1. Some folks say her parents were William Chastain (Son on Rev. "Ten Shilling Bell") and Annie Motes... but that'd be a hard trick for her to pull as she was born years before they were!

2. There is a Margaret Chastain listed by three researchers as daughter to Pierre Chastain and his wife, but they would have been in their 60's if she'd been born in 1775.

3. She's rumoured to have been a Cherokee, but is there any evidence of that? Even a paternal name?

I do know she and Francis disappear in the early 1800s, when their children were very young. It's fairly certain that they were both dead by 1820. So who raised their kids? How did they die? Where were they all living at the time Margaret died? They completely vanish from North Carolina, as far as I can tell.

If anyone can answer ANY of these questions it's not just I who would be greatful, but so would many others who are trying to find out about this mystery woman.
