Hi Patricia,
I'm up late too! I think your ancestor might be Rene Marion Chastain born 1839 (depending upon his middle name of course). The name Rene is rampant in the Chastain line among male children because they were French Hugeonots. If you are a descendant from Elijah Chastain and Catherine Carson (his third wife!), then we are cousins of some sort. Interestingly, Elijah was a Baptist minister who divorced two wives before marrying Catherine Carson who was quite a bit younger (she was born c1795).
