I am looking for information on Cooper B. Chastain and his parents. Thanks to a helpful person on another list I have obtained the following.
David Aaron's father was Cooper B. Chastain, who was probably born in Anderson County, South
Carolina about 1824. He enlisted in Company C of the 42nd Georgia Infantry
Regiment in Milton County, Georgia on March 4, 1862 and was taken POW at the
Battle of Resaca, Georgia on May 15 1864. Unfortunately, he died of disease
at Camp Douglas in Chicago Illinois on March 4, 1865, just a few weeks
before the war ended.
Cooper's son was David A Chastain. He married E.J. Ann Rogers. (she was said to be Indian) One of their children was names George Washington Chastain he married Annie L Couey.
Any information on these people is greatly appreciated.
