Are you referring to Elijah Chastain born 1776 in VA, the minister? He had 3 marriages: 1) Hannah Adams, 2) Anne Middleton, and 3) Catherine Carson. He divorced the first two wives. He and Catherine married in 1818 and moved to Gilmer Co GA (both died there).
Catherine Carson born c1775 was a sister of Samuel Carson, my 3g grandfather. Another sister, Virginia Jane Carson, married James Lafayette Chastain Sr., a son of Elijah's by (I think) his second wife Anne. Based on the dates, he seemed to have son James by second wife Anne while legally still married to Hannah.
I have Elijah's children by each wife (from other researchers).
A relative of mine that connects from to me from another direction descends from Elijah and his first wife Hannah.
