My grandfather Johnson Elijah Chastain, was a brother a brother of William L (Bill) Chastain & Benjamin J (Ben)Chastain.
(I am told 3 sons of Calloway Chastain came to Ga. they ar Ben, Bill and Johnse (mentioned above)
Calloway was born Ga Feb 1851, wife Sarah Jane Sounthern was born Ga May 1857.
Sons- William L. Chastain (Bill) was born 1887 Gilmer Co., Ellijay Ga. Died 1961 Fulton Co. Ga. wife Riller A. Chastain 1892 -1971 both buried Baptist Rest Church Cemetery, on Johnson Rd. Palmetto Ga Fulton Co.
Johnson Elijah Chastain born Gilmer Co, Ellijay Ga. 1888-Died Clayton County, Riverdale Ga.1969, Buried Baptist Rest Church Cemetery.
Ben J. Chastain born 1891 Gilmer Co,Ellijay Ga.Died Fulton County, Ga. 1968 wife Ivory L Chastain b 1896-died Fulton Co 1987. Both buried Baptist Rest Church Cemetery.
I am told that Johnson was a founder of Baptist Rest Baptist Church. Ben and Johnson Chastain each owned Country Stores.I am told they were very saving and thrifty with saving money.
Johnson Chastain married Mary Elizabeth Bell, born Haleyville Ala. Winston Co. They had three children. Two of their children are buried in Baptist Rest Church Cemetery. Their names are Amy Lee (Davis) Chastain b Ga. 1925-1979, and Elmer Chastain, b Ga.1931-1998.
My mother was their middle child Wilma Jean Chastain, she was born in Ga. 1927 died 2001. She is buried in Red Oak Ga. Fulton Co.
