William Chastain (born 1785-1795 - Buncombe Co. NC) was my great-great-great grandfather.
He was our "missing link" (we knew everything after him and before him, but not HIM!) up until about a year ago. Evidently he removed himself from society and moved into the mountains with the indians and married an indian girl. She may have been only 1/2 indian - but we know her father was full-blooded Cherokee (named Hogeny), don't know about heritage of her mother - just that her name was Annie.
