I am looking for a connection to a Chastain family that was in
the Marble City area of Oklahoma in the late 1890's, that is north
of Sallisaw, in Sequoyah County. I have been told that my
Grandfather was born to a Chastain family but was adopted by
James M. and Mary L. (Starr) Raley. It is possible that the
mother died in childbirth and the baby was adopted at that point.
He was killed in a fall at Kansas City in 1927 at the age of 36,
so that means he was probably born in 1891. The Raley family then
moved to Muldrow and ran a store. James is buried there, I am not
sure about Mary,(she was the aunt of Belle Starr) she may have
been buried by her Cherokee kin

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
