I am the gr-grandson of Thomas J. Chastain (son of Eligah and Elizabeth Chastain) and grandson of Mattie Pauline Chastain. I have posted a 1906 certified document of Thomas J. Chastain on my website which states his mother maiden name as Elizabeth Burrell and his maternal grandparents as Mark & Hulda Burrell. This document is signed by Thomas J. Chastain, certified by the county ordinary, and has four witness's. I also have posted a certified copy of his 1931 death certificate which states his mother's maiden name as Burrell. Hope this solves one of the great mysteries of who Eligah Chastains wife's maiden name .
