James Nicholson moved to DeKalb Co Ala. from Habersham Co. Ga. where his daughter, Elizabeth married Joseph Carlton Chastain in 1835. Joseph and Elizabeth were in DeKalb Co in 1848 before moving to Crawford Co. Ark. where his brother Edward had moved. Joseph's brother Rainey married Mary Nicholson, and his sister Mary wed Alfred Nicholson. These Nicholsons were James brother and sister. Rainey Chastain moved to Walker Co. Ga. which is next to DeKalb Co. Alabama. All 4 of these Chastains came from Union Co. GA. and were 1st cousins of the Chastains in Gilmer Co. Ga.
You mentioned a name Marion (after Francis Marion?) which is also commonly used among the relatives of James Nicholson. All the Chastains mentioned above, must be related to yours.
