Looking for the parents of James Whitt Chastain. James was born in 1813 in North Carolina. He was married to Elizabeth Smith in Gilmer Co., GA in ca. 1840. James is probably living with either Jonathan D. Chastain or Elijah Chastain in 1840. In 1850 James is living in dwelling 188 two dwellings away from Rachel Chastain who is the widow of Jonathan D. Chastain. Both Jonathan and James appear in documents together concerning Encoh Smith, who was living near by, in the early 1840's.

I believe that Jonathan D. Chastain and James Whitt Chastain are closly related, but haven't been able to figure out how. If anybody has any clues please let me know, because I would like to solve this piece of the puzzle! Thanks.
