Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa
Thursday, February 8, l923

Early Wednesday morning, Jan. 3l, l923, at Brighton, Colorado, the Angel of Death called and claimed the soul of MARY E., daughter of WILLIAM and MARY HAZLET.

She spent her early life on Eden Prairie in Decatur County, Iowa, going to Colorado seven years ago with her parents. When a small child, she was the victim of an accident which maimed her body for life. She obeyed the Gospel at the age of l5 under the preaching of Wm. Elmore, and was a faithful member of the Eden Prairie Church of Christ. Her love for her Savior was an incentive to others to form their lives by her example. The last ten and one-half years of her life, she spent in teaching in the public schools of Iowa, Kansas and Colorado. Her influence over her pupils was remarkable.

Only four days before she was called away, she left her shcool room for treatment and a rest, which ended in an unbroken rest for her soul. Her departure was as peaceful as her life had been. Without a struggle, she fell asleep at the age of 33 years, l month and l9 days.
Her life was as the perfume of a lovely flower that blossomed and faded away, giving joy, comfort and pleasure to all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her parents, six sisters, MRS. EVERETT BRIGHT, Brighton, Colorado; MRS. OTTO WIESLEY, Richmond, Utah; MRS. R.L. CHASTAIN, Leon, Iowa; MRS. GEO. E. STARKS, Harper, Kansas; IDA and FLORENCE; and two brothers, WILLIAM J. and RAYMOND L., besides a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the Eden Prairie Chapel, Sunday, February 4th, at 3 p.m., and the body laid to rest in the Chastain Cemetery amid rich floral offerings presented by relatives and friends.
