Edgar Lewis Chastain was born February 2, 1918, and passed away at the home in Eden Township, November 25, 1918, being 9 months and 23 days of age. Little Edgar was taken to the hospital at Iowa City when but a few hours old and he spent the first four months of his life there and the remainder of his short life was spent at home. He leaves a father and mother, two half-brothers, Perry who resides at Springfield, Missouri, and Earnest at Kansas City, Missouri. He also leaves three sisters, Julia, Clara and Frances at home, and five brothers, Willard B., and William R. who are in France being called to the service in the fall of 1917, and George R., who enlisted and is stationed at Iowa City, and James and Charles who are at home. Besides these he leaves an aged grandmother and one half-sister preceded him in death. Edgar Lewis was a general favorite with all who knew him. This is another mystery of life that we cannot understand, but we must remember that little flowers of love that blossomed but to die are transplanted now above to bloom with God on high. The funeral services were conducted by Reverend Henry Esch of Decatur. Interment was at the Chastain Cemetery. Decatur County Journal-Iowa November 28, 1918 Notify Administrator about this message?
