Christine: There is a extensive story in the Bicentennial edition of the Post-Searchlight of Aug 11, 1976. This is the Bainbridge, GA., newspaper. Maybe you have seen it and if not, it gives Dr. Thomas Chason as having been born, Dec 17, 1871, son of Reuben Chason and 2nd wife, Mary Trawick Chason. He died, Nov 24, 1941. I am also researching the Chason family from Decatur County. These dates may not be totally correct as the story says, they were calculated by E.H. Hayes from the 1850 census. I have info that I will give to anyone researching this family. My maternal grandfather was Sidney Dillard Alday. The family always claimed a connection to Reuben Chason through one of his daughters, Eliz or perhaps Elizabeth Chason. She married a Brown at one time. Thers's also info that an Elizabeth Mollie Chason, born in 1829 and married George L. Earnest, 30 Dec 1841 (She wd have been 12 yrs old)????? If this is factual info, which I doubt, she could have had several more marriages. My Decatur County records show a marriage between James Brown and Elizabeth Chason, 25 Jan 1833. Any help I can give you or anyone else, I will do so. Ruby Brown, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org FAX (916) 487-1778.
