I have a letter from another David Brew (my great uncle) to his brother which states:
The first Chartres, who was one of the leaders of the Huguenots in France, came to Carrigaholt Castle after the Revocation of the Edit of Nantes in 1689 [shud be 1685] on a visit to his brother-in-law, the great Earl of Clare, and as you know his grand-daughters Elaine and Jeanne married our ancestors Richard Brew and his brother the first Tomkins Brew (who died in 1756) respectively`.

Im looking for any info on this man and his family.
