Hi there!

My Charney family background is based from the Ukraine. We are Canadians now, but for the timeline you are looking for, my father's mother may have some information. Here is a question for you though -- there is a distinction for Russian Charneys -- some are Yiddish-speaking Russian Jews, and some are Ukrainian-speaking Catholics/Orthodox. Do you have any other relevant info (excepting that is father was John, and Charles was born in St.Louis MO. i.e., did he live in St.Louis all his life? Other family? etc. This may take awhile to procure information, but I will be sure to ask next time I see her. By the way, the timeline is probably going to be a month or so.

Good luck!
