I came across your message posted in May 2003 when I entered the name of the above in Google.
Although I am not family, for some years now, off and on, I have been looking into the Charleson tree for another reason connected with the time that we spent in the village of Hillside, just outside the town of Montrose in Angus. I do have some information obtained from the site 'Scotlands People' which, although not tying in exactly with the date of birth of 1801 and with a very slight name difference could well be the man for whom you are looking – many other facts tie in.
I tried to contact you on the e-maill address given without success to offer to send details of what I have to you so that you can judge for yourself whether or not this is relevant.
