Any info on Newton Charles?

Newton Charles (b 1832 d March 01, 1897)was married to Elizabeth Margaret Proctor (b April 09, 1847 d November 28, 1909). They had one son William Henry Harrison Charles (b October 15, 1884 d May 17, 1970)
I suspect they were all born in North Carolina, but Harrison did live in Ohio at some time.
Any information would be appreciated.
