Paris was the son of Andrew Jackson Charles and Louisa Ramey. Andrew Jackson Charles was the son of Frederick Charles Sr. and Elizabeth McColley. Frederick Charles was the son of George Charles and Christean Michael. George Charles was the son of Michael Charles, a german who was naturalized in Rowan Co., N.C.Sept. 22, 1763, and died in Orange Co., N.C. (what is now Alarmance and Gulliford Co.) In Michael's estate settlement it lists each of his children and in his daughter's section, it also lists their husbands. George at that time was living in Russell Co., Va. In book D page 424 in Orange Co., N.C., there is a power of attorney from George Charles of Rusell Co., Va., to Joshep Gibson of Gulliford Co. dated July 22, 1813 giving the latter the authority to act on his behalf in the settlement of his father's (Michael) estate. It was witnessed by Andrew Gibson and Zachariah Phillips. In reference to the Andrew Jackson Charles listed above, I have a copy of his death certificate.
