AJ Charles was my grandfather's grandfather.
His mother was Emma Louella Charles, born 4-12-1869 in Mitchell, Indiana and died in Alton, Illinois 11-8-45. AJC married Elizabeth Matilda Tolliver. AJC served in the 93rd Indiana which did not muster, so they were merged with the 92nd, but I cannot find him listed. Grandaddy said AJC told him about fighting at Lookout Mountain, Chickamauga, and Franklin. But I cannot verify that. AJC's name is supposedly on a monument on Lookout Mountain, but I have not found it. Hope this helps.
