Here's a big mess I need some help on.
According to my grandmothers application for a social security account number she listed her parents names as Norman CHARLES and Elizabeth Ann MONTGOMERY. At the time Feb 15
1940 she was living in Ft. Worth TX, married and had her name as Nan Charles JOHNSON. Said
she was born 29 Jan 1903 Peoria, IL.
Let's back up a little to when she got married. She married 3 Sept 1921 Quincy IL. On the marriage license she had her name as June ADAMS age 23 (makes her born in ~1898) marrying McNay JOHNSON saying he was 34 his name was supposed to be Frank McNay JOHNSON and hers was supposed to be at that time Nancy June ADAMS. The rest of the license was left blank. Are you keeping up with this? Don't worry, it gets better.
On 18 May 1944 my grandmother joined the U.S. Army with her name as Nan Charles JOHNSON b13 March 1905 born in Peoria, IL and a widow. She was dischared 23 July 1945 with an honorable discharge and her papers stated that it was for the convenience of the government.
The social security death index has her birth date as 13 March 1898.
After my grandmothers 3rd marriage we all knew her as Nan C. MEINHOLD. She never would tell us anything about our grandfather or herself and in 1996 she took everything to the grave with her. Can anybody help me with this? I think I've gone every route there is to go so I need some kind of a connection not helpful advice. Thank you in advance.
