I am looking for information about a CHARLES family that moved to Texas in the early 19th century.
According to family tradition, three Charles brother came to Texas before it joined the Union. The brothers fought in the Texas-Mexican wars. Supposedly, further records can be found in the files of the Land Commissioner at Austin.
My family is descended from one of these brothers: W.T. Charles. He married and lived on a farm near Millican, Texas. From his first wife he had two children: Frank and Mary. Frank married an Anna Persky and had one daughter, Laura Charles, born August 15th, 1867 in Millican, Texas.
W.T. Charles had two sisters who lived in North Carolina.
Does anyone have any information about this family?
