I'm looking for information on Smith Charles. He was born 20 November 1807 in Stokes Co, NC. He married Mary Idol. His children include:
Letitia Charles
Elizabeth Charles
Mathias J Charles
Phebe C Charles
Risdon B Charles
Hanah Charles
Mary S Charles
Sebern Charles

I did find the following:
From the "Forsyth County Genealogical Society Journal, Vol VII, No. 2"
"Apprentice Bonds
Gaston Stroud an orphan boy of color ages ten years is bound to Smith Charles who enters bond of $500 with M. J. Charles security dated June 19th, 1855, Conditioned that he shall not remove said boy from the County and shall produce him at Court when or (smudged) so to do, he the said Smith Charles to teach the said Gaston Stroud the Brick Masons Trade and give him a full set of Masons tools and two suits of good cloths when free."
