I may have a small piece of the Texas line. My wife is a Charles. Her father, Emmett McCaughey Charles, graduated from highschool in Texas in 1916 (I think). (We've a graduation picture.) Several years ago I ran across the following information while filing some of Mr. Charles' records. Unfortunately, I'm away from the records right now. Emmett's father was Fred Beahler Charles, whose father was (I believe) James N. Charles. (James N. was a Confederate veteran from Tennessee. We have a postar picture taken in Nashville). Hope this info is of some help.
