CHAPPELL,/BONNER/HEATH/TATUM, VA, GA, AL
Posted by: David Robertson Date: April 29, 2000 at 21:12:12
  of 2819

Robert Chappell and Agnes his wife came to Wilkes/Lincoln Co. GA about 1790. I think they came from Prince Edward Co., VA. But proof they did come from VA. One son was William, proof of birth in 1770s in VA via the Methodists' Christian Advocate. Another apparent son was Obadiah Chappell who married Hannah Harrington.

These Chappells moved to Walton Co., GA and are in 1820+ tax lists there.

It is my theory that I come from Obadiah Chappell who moved to near Whitesville in Harris Co. GA and was murdered there (Georgia Black Book) in 1839. The next year, my gggg grandmother Mary Chappell shows in 1840 Harris census there. I think she could have been widow of Wilkes E. Chappell (1830 Walton Co., GA census and for whom Obadiah paid taxes for in 1826).

My gggg came over the GA/ALA line to Chambers County, Alabama, and was buried with tombstone in 1877 in the Chappell Family Cemetery at Penton near Lafayette.

I have done everything in Texas but stand on my head for 20 years to find what proofs. WE have so much, but cannot get to an end!

Can anyone help with this Chappell line?

Old timers said my Chappells were related to the (Bnjamin) Bonners at Penton in 1870s. He married a Tatom, and old Mary could have been a Tatom. GGGG Mary named a son Charles Cicero Heath Chappell, for local Health.

That is mystery I guess throughout American history: Chappell, Bonner, Heath.

If anyone can help,
