Chappell family from Illinois

I am just beginning my family search. My father was Stanley Stewart Chappell. He was born in Pinkneyville, Perry County, Illinois in 1915. Died in Tucson, Arizona 1995. His father, my gfather, was Pfeifer Joseph Chappell who was born about 1885 in Illinois and died in 1958. Pfeifer's father was Joseph Chappell. I don't know my ggmothers name, only that she was pure Cherokee.

Appreciate any information from anyone who knows about this particular branch.
