Is anyone working on the Chappell family of Patrick and Carroll Co's VA, and Surry Co., NC? I am trying to prove that my ancestor, William Chappell (b. c1819) was the son of Palen Chappell (1798-1877) and Mary White (1786-?). Evidently, the clerks at the Patrick Co. VA courthouse are incredibly rude and unhelpful so I have been unable to find the necessary references that I am sure exist. Any clues?
