Chappell Family Genealogy Forum

This from the information I obtained at the library. It is as follows:The Chappells were numerously represented in England between 1500 - 1600. The name is oftern found in Northamptonshire, Rutland and Nottinghamshire, and several members of the family attained great eminence, amoung whom was one William Chappell, who was at one time Bishop of Cork and a professor of Cambridge. He was born in 1582, and died May 13,1649. He had a younger brother named John who died before him, was buried at Mansfield, and left a family. He may of been the same John Chappell who was captain of the ship Speedwell in 1635. The father of these sons was named Robert. There is also mentioned in some of this info a Lt. John Bannister who left a legacy to Thomas Chappell's child. There are several Chappell's ( Robert, Samuel, 2 Thomas', Zachariah, James, and John) who patented tracts of land in Va during the 1600's. I have the dates for anyone interested. I also found entries of Chappell's listed on the registar of Bristol parish, Prince George and Dinwiddie counties. They are as follows: "Ann, d. of Robert and Mary Chappell, b. Feb. 18,1721; Absalom, son of Robert and Elizabeth (probably second wife ,b.May 6,1729; Robert sson of Robert and Elizabeth, b. April 2, 1732." The above is from a Chappell who researched his family in the mid 1800's. I am seeking info on a Jesse Chappell born in North Carolina on March 16, 1789 and his connection to the Chappell families from the early colonies of Va. If anyone one has anything on this Jesse I would love to hear from them.
