Thanks to Joel B. Chappell for the info: William Chapel b ca. 1640 England surfaces in New London, CT 1653, married 1669; died 1690. He is the ancestor of the Montville Chapels. His residence was on the Cohanzie Road on what is now (1896) called "Cavalry Farm." His widow married Edward Stallion in 1693 & they had 2 children. William Chapel's descendants were numerous, many settling in the North Parish of New London, now Montville, at a place now (1896) called "Chapel Hill".
