Just saw your message -- I haven't been able to find out who Adophus Grant Chappell's parents are, but I do have other information about the family. I was interested to learn that Arthur Grant Chappell's first wife was Adelaide Leona Purington. I am the g grandaughter of Adelaide Melissa Gorton's second husband, George E. Chase, who was also a ship chandler in Jacksonville. Jacksonville City Directory 1900 lists: Chase, George E & Co (George E Chase, A G Chappell), ship chandler, 408 East Bay.
