CHAPPELLS IN ESSEX, ENGLAND

  of 2819

The earliest records of my family I can locate are in Essex. My ggggg grandparents were Bernard and Isabella Chappell who I think were born in Essex. Bernard was born in about 1725. They had five children all born in Witham, Essex, the eldest being Bernard born in 1751, who married Esther Cross in Witham in 1775. They had nine children, all born in Witham. Their youngest was my ggg grandfather Alfred, who married Priscilla Hance in Bocking, Essex, in 1813. They had eight children, the first three of whom were born in Witham. They moved to London (Southwark) in 1818, and had the rest of their children, their sixth being Alfred, my gg grandfather. The family then stayed in London for the rest of the 19th century, and I have posted information about this period in the Chappells in Middlesex forum. Various other parts of the family (not my direct ancestors) stayed in Essex. I have about 300 names on my tree, and I would be interested to hear from anybody with conections.
