I am very happy to know someone will continue the genealogy thread from Nancy C Baird. I've admired her from afar for some time.

I am not a Chappelear (that I yet know). But Nancy was a Hicks descendant.. as are any of John Edmonds & Naomi Hicks descendants.

To date, I see no indication that Nancy and family had found the history of Kimble Hicks. The clue to their history came from the trunk of a Hicks cousin, Genie Scheffel. The key to the search was an old letter from the 1880s which detailed the father and brothers of Kimble Hicks.
Kimble Hicks was the father of:
Naomi (Hicks) Edmonds.
Grandfather of Lewis Edmonds
Great Grandfather of Amanda V (Edmonds) Chappelear.

Had I known Nancy C B was so very ill, I'd have made a great effort to contact her. (I thought perhaps if I wrote to the Historical Soc. in Fauquier, perhaps they would be a bridge to her.)

If you know any descendants of John & Naomi (Hicks) Edmonds, please have them contact me. These include all of Amanda V Edmonds & Armistead Chappelear's descendants, plus others. I've posted on the Fauquier Co, VA Email List site; but as yet have not found any of her descendants.

Before I post the information, I am selfish. I want the pleasure of sharing this directly. (Even by email) Their history is surprisingly interesting.

Imagine my surprise when I opened the book Nancy C B edited, "Journals of Amanda V Edmonds...". I opened in the middle..only to find the name of my Great Great Grandfather mentioned. Shortly, I found the page where Amanda comments on the death of her "Cousin Cat". (My Great Great Grandmother, Catherine Cecilia Hicks Massie.)

Thank you very much if you can aid my search in any way..
