Henry Charles Chapman died Iowa 1894

Hello. For many years we have been told that my husband's family were decendants of John Chapman (AKA Johnny Appleseed). I am in the progress of tracing our ancestry and I cannot find a connection yet. The oldest member of the Chapman family we have found was Henry Charles Chapman (DOB 1-11-1825; DOD 5-29-1894). He was born in Upwell County, England and died in North English, Iowa USA. But he would have been born 55 years after John Chapman and he was born in England...
Just curious if there is a line I can pursue at this point.
