Several brothers to my great grandfather moved to Lewis County Washington in the late 1800's. The only one I can find who might have been refereed to as William Chapman was George W Chapman. Born in 1851 in Jasper Co, IL, his first wife was Kate Snider. Do a word search for Lewis. You will get a few Chapmans named Lewis, but you will also get several Chapmans who lived in Lewis Co, WA. Either they or their parents originated in Jasper Co, IL
