Are you a descendant of Col. Reuben Chapman (b.cir. 1784 - d. bef. 16 Jun 1824) through his daughter Maria Chapman and James Hillyard? I have found a transcription of a marriage bond for James Hillyard and Maria Chapman in Caroline Co., VA on 16 Oct 1804. It states that Reuben Chapman was Maria's father and Samuel Chapman was a witness. Maria died prior to her father's death (16 Jun 1824). I'm trying to find descendants of this union. Their children were listed as James, Jos.,Reuben,Nancy,Maria, Mary,Matilda.
My great grandfather, James Hillyard, was born about 1818 in VA (according to 1850 Texas Census) and I'm trying to connect him to this family. If you are a descendant of Maria and James Hillyard I would really like to correspond with you.
