SILAS CHAPMAN married (2) LOUISA HILL, November 18, 1849, in Wilson County, TN, with T. J. WILKERSON, JP, officiating.
ROBERT HILL made his will June 5, 1844 and it was recorded
November 4, 1845 [W&I, 1843-1848, p. 228] He names his wife, LOUISA, and six children: WILLIAM GREEN, JOHN M., ROBERT T., CYRUS W., PRESTON Y., and JAMES M. HILL.
SILAS CHAPMAN was the son of SAMUEL CHAPMAN, whose will is dated August 23, 1811 and recorded March 5, 1812 [W&I, 1802-1814, p. 285f.]He mentions his wife, RACHEL; son, BENJAMIN CHAPMAN; "my five daughters: NANCY CHAPMAN, RISPAH YOUREE, SARAH TRUETT, ELIZABETH ANDERSON, and ACHASA CHAPMAN; son, SILAS CHAPMAN,whom he names executor with friend, JOHN ALLCORN.
SILAS CHAPMAN made his will August 28, 1847 and it was recorded November 17, 1851 [W&I, 1848-1853, p. 324f]. He names "my three sons: JOHN S., THOMAS B., and SILAS; daughter. ELIZABETH POSEY; grandchildren, the children of
ELIZABETH POSEY; "my four surviving children: JOHN S., THOMAS B., SILAS CHAPMAN, and ELIZABETH POSEY. He appointed his son, JOHN S. and nephew, SAMUEL C. ANDERSON as executrs.
