It appears that I never replied to your note to me. If I did not, pls excuse me. It has been some time since I worked the CHAPLIN line. I do have the MILTON's book oh John CHAPLIN and his descendants pub. 1948. I have also visted the CHAPLIN "neighborhood"
and one of at least three CHAPLIN cemeteries only about 1/2 mi from each other in Naples, ME. Mrs. Louise CHAPLIN lives in the house that my 3rd ggf, Caleb CHAPLIN m. Ruth JORDAN built for their first son, Augustine CHAPLIN m. Ellen PLUMMER. Sadly, Augustine d. in his 30's and my 2nd ggf, George Henry CHAPLIN's wife (my 2nd ggm, Edith SANBORN) also died. Later George Henry and Ellen married and lived in this house. I have a picture of George Henry and Edith Sanborn CHAPLIN.

Are you familiar with the CHAPLIN's most interesting ancestry, including the connection to James Russell LOWELL who was asked by Henry Wadsworth LONGFELLOW to accept his chair as Professor of Languages (I believe) at Harvard? There are many other fascinating connections, but given your EMERSON surname, I used the LONGFELLOW connection. Of course, my next question...any connection to Ralph Waldo?

Best of health,
John
