I am looking for information on Joseph Chaplin (about 1780-1830). He was married to Mary Werten and had 2 sons (James married Polly Bowman 1836; and ?) and 4 daughters (Rosanna m Anderson Mooney; Jane married Richard Claytor 1838; Matilda married William Claytor 1842; and Elizabeth married Joseph Calhoun 1843). Joseph is listed in 1810 Fed Census in Rockingham co. He is listed in the Fed census in 1830 in Augusta Co. He died sometime after 1830. Anderson Mooney was listed as guardian for Jane in the marriage bond dated 1838. James Chaplin must have come to age and was listed as guardian for Matilda and Elizabeth. Cannot locate marriage record for Joseph and Mary Chaplin.
