father; Samuel Perley CHAPLIN (John, John, Lt. John, John, Joseph, Hugh), b. Bridgton, 11May1825; m. 10Mar1854 to Lydia Shaw Knowles, b. 09 Sept1832 in Bridgton, dau of David and Lydia (Shaw) Knowles. He was a farmer in the Long Woods sec. of Naples, ME overlooking Long Lake. He d. suddenly of heart failure, 30 June1883. His wid. d. Lovell, 29 April, 1906.*
