Dick-- WOW! Finally I find someone in this world that is researching the Chaplain/Chaplin/Chaplan/Chaplen/Chaplyn and others. Its kind of lonely when you are out there by yourself looking and so many others have pages etc.I dont know where you live but there is a book published in 1902 by Maria J. Liggett Dare entitled "Chaplines From AMaryland and Virginia". If she is correct and I have no reason to doubt her work and you are truly looking at Iassk/Isack/Isaac etc Chaplain, then this book which as I said was published has over 100 pages of Chaplain/Chaplin/Chapline info. By the way Isack Chaplain came over in 1610 not 1622, and settled Chaplain's Choyse on the James River just east of what is called Hopewell Today on Bickers Creek. Mary, his wife didnt come until 1622 with John who was born in England. William & Mary were born at Chaplain's Choyse and as you said she married Anthony Wyatt. Most poeple dont know that census were take earlier than 1790, but that was the first FEDERAL census. I have the census of Virginia in 1624 ordered by King George. You know that all these earlier settlers were business propersitions, like the Virginia Company, London Company and in the Chaplains Choyse was the Truelove Company. I havent found it yet but I'm fairlly certain Truelove was a good English name and was the big supporter of the company. Heck--I have too much info in this area that to send but get in touch. Maybe you can help me connect to these Chaplains as a lot of earlier settlers came from Va to NC where I am. I'm back to William Chaplain, Senr. b. 1772 Currituck Co. NC d. 11 May 1831 Currituck Co. NC. Son was Caleb Thomas Chaplain b/ 1801 NC d. 1859 VA. I'd flip out if you have a connection Get back to me Stuart Chaplain
