Chaplin, Solomon Shelby County 1830

I am looking for information on Solomon Chaplin (or Chaplain - it appears both ways depending on where you look). He first appears in the 1830 census of Shelby County, Illinois. He is indicated as being between the ages of 20 to 30. His wife was Mary Ana (or Ann) Helton, she is indicated as being 15 to 20 years of age. They both appeared again in the 1840 census. He tried unsuccesfully in 1848 to purchase some property in Moultrie county. He had to let it go back in 1849 and that is the last time I could find his name. I don't know if he died or bought a fast horse. His wife is shown in the 1850 census for Moultrie county. Moultrie county was formed in 1842 by changing the boundary lines for 2 existing counties. Mary is in the 1850 Moultrie county census as Polly Chapman. She has 10 Children. Their names were: Henry, Hetta, Nancy, Thomas, Elisabeth, Issac, William, Robert, James & George R. In 1853 she married Thomas Dobbins and in the 1860 census they had a 6 year old daughter named Ellen. These people are my Great-Great Grandparents. I do not know where they came from or what happened to them. The court house in Moultrie county caught fire two times and a great deal of the records were lost. Would appreciate any information you could give me.
