I am studying that branch of the Chaplin(e) family of Essex Co and Lincoln and Cambridgeshire and London, etc. Isaac who came to VA in 1622 (Chapline's Choice) and had land on the James R. Had John, William and Mary(m. Anthony Wyatt).
William Chapline moved to Calvert Co. MD his children moved to Dorchester and Prince Georges Counties and grandchildren to what is now D.C. and Washington Counties of MD and to Shepherdstown, VA (now WV). Names of males - most common, William, Isaac, Moses, Solomon, Joseph, etc.
Edmund Chaplin of the New England branch, appears to be a
cousin of Ensign Isaac Chapline who settled in Va and was on Lord Delawar's supply and exploration ship to the James in 1610.
