Chapa descendants, I am a descendant by marriage early in the Colonial settlements of Mexico. How many of you know the origin of the name?

The origin goes back to Juan Bautista Chapa, of the first settlements. It is an Italian name that was shortened when coming to the New Spain. It was originally Juan Bautista Schiappapria, which was shortened to Chapa. The family is from Genosla, Italy..
