Chapas of Duval county. I also have a great great great grandfather i trace back to the 1880 census of duval county by the name of Mariano Chapa. He was married to Santos Chapa and had several children. He was born around 1823 in Mexico. I have much reason to suspect the Chapa of San Diego were from the area of Mier, Mexico. My great grandmother used to tell me stories of how her family from San Diego has many acres and a ranch. I check the land records of Duval county and i see Mariano, Victorina, Priscibano, and a couple of other Chapas owned land. I wonder if they were perhaps from the same family 1823 and 1828 isn't out of the question. If you have any info here is my email. oo7texas@grandecom.net (oo7 - those are not zeros)
